Tell me your thoughts!
There has been a big push for GMO food labeling in grocery retailers nation wide. The California bill lost at the polls and I just got word that Montana is pushing for it. If you remember, COOL (country of origin labeling) was determined to be unethical and would put certain other countries at a disadvantage. Do you think the GMO bill is the same and puts certain producers at an unfair...

Word of first fire in Montana.
Just northeast of Livingston, MT- it started about 10pm on Friday. It has taken about 300 miles,  but is thought to be well contained. I hope this is not a sign of what is to come this summer.

America has made a big push to stop “commercial”...
There has to be room for both. In an idealist world we could decentralize our food system, but point out to me the 2 million(+) people that would have to go with out food and I’ll let them know they no longer get to eat. And another thing to remember is that we make commercial Ag out to be bad guys, but they are really just family farmers trying to make a living, and I have never met a...

Get your NAP by Friday!
Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) applications for coverage close tomorrow by FSA office closing dates. It covers most crops that are not covered by an insurance policy- THIS INCLUDES GRAZING LAND AND HAY FIELDS. If you think it’s going to be another really dry year and you’ll have at least a 50% loss on your acres, go into your county FSA office and get it covered!...

Let me know what you think!
So I was tossing this idea around in my head while listening to the noon Ag report for my state- let me know what you think. Make suggestions on how to improve on it. So I really think it is important that every producer’s opinion on agriculture get heard. What if I was to make a bi weekly (or even monthly post) about a hot topic in agriculture and then ask for you guys send in your...

It's National Ag Safety Week!
Standing in the bucket of the tractor, lifted off the ground to fix the hay elevator is safe right? I know we all don’t follow everything to a T (because let’s face it- if we can fix it with bailing twine then it’ll hold till the grandkids take over) lets take extra care this year to prevent on farm accidents.
